Career
05.09.05 (6:47 am)   [edit]

I've been reading blogs and most entries I see are about their courses in college, and here I am, semi-decided on my course. I've already written my courses in my UP application form.

Actually, I'm interested on being an astronaut or work in NASA eversince I was in 1st year because I found myself very interested in Earth Science, specifically Astronomy, but it seems very impossible. So I thought I'd rather work in PAGASA. Unfortunately, I dunno what will happen to our government, so I gave that up.

But one thing I'm sure right now is that I want to become an engineer or any occupation Science-related.

When I was in second year, I wanted to become a Civil Engineer, but my parents discourage me to that course because it has less job opportunities. I also thought of Electronics and Communications Engineering, but to think, I'm not helping my dad fix some electrical glitches in our house so I don't think that it will be good for me. Then, I realized that all engineering courses are quota courses excpet Geodetic Engineering, so I placed it in my choices. Plus, my dad saw many companies in need of Geodetic Engineers in the classified ads. I also thought of Chemical Engineering, but my cousin, who is a chemical engineer got pregnant and she resigned because the chemicals in which she is exposed to is bad for her aby's health so she had to resign. She also told me that Industrial Engineering is a good bet because all industries need it, therefore, making it easy to land a good job.

Unfortunately, Math and Physics are the majors of that course, but though the case, I will try my best to study Physics, since Physics is a major of any engineering course. Physics, I will beat you! In Math, well, since Miss Mojica became my teacher I realized that I'm not that good in Math, but Mrs. Jarabese told me that I'm good in Math and I just need practice. I also like our lessons in Trigonometry about triangles and such but I'm way too careless that I end up with low scores in my exams. That's probably why I was oriented that I'm not good in that subject.

My mom told me that I can work in companies as Philvocs or PAGASA if I take Applied Physics, my friend, ate Angeline is taking that course and I think that she can tell me something about it. I'm also planning to ask kuya Lester about Computer Engineering because I am a semi-computer geek and I am interested with computers.

But when I read Karen's blog and knew that she will be taking Pharmacy, I thought that I also like that. Unfortunately, it is only available in UP Manila and I don't want to study there because, as ate Marijo said, the environment is "nakakatoxic". But anyway, I'll just put it in the 2nd choice of campus.

So I came up with these:

1. BS Industrial Engineering
2. BS Geodetic Engineering
3. BS Pharmacy

As I said in my former post, I'm not taking any summer workshop or classes this year because our family is lacking dough. But one thing is for sure, next summer will be my best or rather the most challenging summer workshop! I'll be surely taking driving lessons because I already told that to my dad when my brother had his driving lessons and of course, knowing that driving is essential nowadays, he also encourages me to do so. Hehehe! By the time I learn how to drive, my mom and I won't suffer commuting to Ayala anymore when we want to go window-shopping, 'cause I'll be the one to drive for her! Who says driving isn't essential for women?

The list of summer workshops I attended and will attend!

kinder 1 -swimming lessons
kinder 2 to grade 2-nothing
grade 3 -swimming
grade 4 -nothing
grade 5 to grade 6 -swimming
first year high school -tennis
second year -swimming
third year -household chores
fourth year -DRIVING!
1st year college -AERO-BOXING or BOXING alone!

Good luck with school and such! Don't worry too much. You can always change your major or program if you find out it is not the right thing for you. Try to explore and take lots of classes to find out what you are passionate about!
